Review on πŸ”₯ Hot Max WC100 Welding/Plasma Cutter Cart: Ultimate Portable Solution for Welders and Plasma Cutters by Ricardo Thotti

Basket is better than expected!

I recently bought a Hobart/Miller AutoArc 130 Mig welder simply because I wanted to learn how to weld. I thought I'd fix/build something around the house and maybe even make a little metal sculpture/art in my garage. The first welding project I originally planned was to build a carriage for the welding machine. After thinking about it, I decided that making a carriage out of angled iron would be overkill, so I decided to save my first project for something else. This might sound like heresy to some, but I started thinking about buying a ready made welding cart. I looked at several similar designs (3 from Revain, 1 from Northern Tools, 1 from Harbor Freight). After reading many reviews I wasn't expecting much in terms of build quality, especially on the cheaper ones. Complaints included thin/weak sheet metal, poor quality fasteners/screws that weren't enough to hold everything together, cheap casters that failed instantly, and narrow shelves. After spending a lot of time reading all the reviews I settled on this Hot Max - it was a bit more expensive but not by much. I was very surprised when the box arrived - at first it was a lot heavier than I expected. . I opened it up and after about 30 minutes of assembly I had a well designed and surprisingly strong cart! The instructions were minimal but concise and easy to follow. I was impressed with the connecting bolts and nuts. The nuts were lock nuts themselves, so all I needed was a 10mm socket wrench to turn the bolt. I was able to hold the nut with my hand until the latch side clicked into place, and then I was able to tighten it firmly with a socket wrench. A pleasant moment was the presence of a few extra nuts / bolts. My MIG setup fits comfortably on the top shelf and for a 40cc shielding gas cylinder. There is more than enough space for his feet on the parcel shelf designed for him. Probably a much larger cylinder could be placed on it. The trolley has a strong handle on the front and two strong hooks on the sides for hanging welding cables. The bottom shelf holds my welding headgear and the middle shelf with a ledge can safely store all other utility items such as pliers, wire spools, etc. Overall, I'm very impressed with this Hot Max cart. It's a lot stronger than I expected and more than validated my decision to buy rather than build!
