Review on Enhanced Performance Idle Air Control Valve by Standard Motor Products AC197 by Darin Grosz

Solves idle problems - a genuine Denso part!

THE BEST: The part that came out of the box was a genuine Denso idle valve with Japanese markings, identical to the one that came with the original equipment on my truck. So it doesn't look like an aftermarket part (your experience may differ). And the price is as good as any aftermarket part I've seen. If it heats up after a short stop (e.g. refueling) and/or gives an intermittent "Check Engine Light" error that goes away after a few engine starts, you probably need to replace the idle air control valve. In my experience, the expected lifespan of this part is around 80,000 miles. At this price I recommend buying a new idle control valve rather than cleaning the old one. I have cleaned and then replaced these valves on a number of cars over the past 25 years. My conclusion is that not only do they get dirty, they wear out and cleaning them will only give you a few months of continuous use. Given the amount of work required to remove this from a Toyota Tacoma truck engine, it is best to simply replace it.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
