Defective - don't worry and buy an OEM Hyundai assembly

Looks like a direct replacement for my 2014 Hyundai. Upon installation I found that the electric motor/actuator was dead. My advice: save yourself the headache and pay the extra money for a genuine Hyundai part. Hyundai also comes with a plastic clip that secures the cable to the trunk lid - you'll break it if you remove the old one. It is easy to install - use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the trunk trim latches. (Only the left side and one direction right of the mechanism). Disconnect the electrical connector, then use a 10mm socket to remove the locking mechanism and unhook the cable. Install in reverse order. Check both the key and remote entry (and/or trunk release button) before reinstalling the panel. You can do this by using a small screwdriver shaft to close the locking mechanism with the trunk open. I bought OEM parts through Revain, BTW.
