simply great!: Antennas

Excellent, inexpensive SDR! I'm using it with gqrx 2.6 on OSX Sierra 10.12.5. The large antenna works great for NOAA WX, VHF broadcasts and as shown in the image for a 2m ham radio - a gross overhaul on a simplex frequency is represented even better with a simple addition of "rtl=0, direct_samp=2" in the gqrx device string input, you can tune from 500kHz to 28.8MHz! (You will need some filtering to remove some artifacts) The base comes with a nut - don't throw it away or lose it! Conveniently you can add a counterpoise cable for better reception on certain frequency bands - I just use a large antenna fully extended on a metal fabric box - works great overall for FM reception (2 meters is narrow FM as opposed to broadcast FM) . , a great little radio for listening to radio waves - an inexpensive yet functional introduction to SDR
