Description of ๐Ÿ“ป Discover the Power of RTL2832U Software Defined Radio (SDR) with RTL SDR Blog

Includes 1x RTL-SDR Blog V3 R820T2 RTL2832U 1PPM TCXO HF Bias Tee SMA Dongle and 1x Multipurpose Dipole Antenna Kit. Great for many applications including general radio, air traffic control, public safety radio, ADSB, ACARS, trunked radio, P25 digital voice, POCSAG, weather balloons, APRS, NOAA APT weather satellites, radio astronomy, meteor scatter monitoring, DAB, classroom learning, or for use as a low cost panadapter with a traditional ham radio. Several improvements over other brands including use of the R820T2 tuner, improved component tolerances, a 1 PPM temperature compensated oscillator (TCXO), SMA F connector, aluminium shielded case with thermal pad for passive cooling, activatable bias tee circuit and a much improved antenna set. Can tune from 500 kHz to 1.7 GHz and has up to 3.2 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth (2.4 MHz stable). (HF reception below 24 MHz in direct sampling mode with reduced performance). Please note RTL-SDR dongles are RX only. Comes with our portable dipole antenna kit. Great for beginners as it allows for terrestrial and satellite reception. Easy to mount outdoors and designed for portable and temporary outside usage. Please do not use outside during poor weather conditions.

simply great!: Antennas

Excellent, inexpensive SDR! I'm using it with gqrx 2.6 on OSX Sierra 10.12.5. The large antenna works great for NOAA WX, VHF broadcasts and as shown in the image for a 2m ham radio - a gross overhaul on a simplex frequency is represented even better with a simple addition of "rtl=0, direct_samp=2" in the gqrx device string input, you can tune from 500kHz to 28.8MHz! (You will need some filtering to remove some artifacts) The base comes with a nut - don't throw it away or lose it! Convenientlyโ€ฆ

I just do not know. for radio antennas

I consider myself fairly computer savvy. I can't figure out how to get this thing to work properly. I've tried SDRConsole, SDR#, HDSDR, Questa, FLDigi, Airspy. I just can't seem to get anything or display compatibility. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I can't give him good grades. While it's probably my fault, I can't seem to get it to work properly - it shouldn't be that hard. UPDATE: Okay, I have a key that works with a few available programs, but this thing is by no means "plug andโ€ฆ

At first it didn't work and it's hot! But then it was great!

Didn't work at first. I installed the SDRSharp software and installed the device driver. Then I went into the program according to the instructions. Set the RTL-SDR (USB) settings, then click the play triangle. The software worked. A key and longer antennas were connected. At first I couldn't set anything. Then I went outside. Only a few very strong FM stations could be tuned in. The device felt very hot. Day 2. We play with the antenna, make sure it's ok. I soldered the connector. The middleโ€ฆ

Works as advertised (also on HF) and FUN!

This is a very valuable item - what it can do for the price is hard to beat. It definitely works as advertised, but be aware that you'll need to read online user guides as no documentation is included with the device. The website printed on the module is a great resource. For those wondering about the HF reception I can confirm that using the Q channel direct sampling setup results in 500kHz tuning as advertised. I have successfully received AM broadcasts and shortwave broadcasts on 49, 31 andโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Minor issues

First, this is my 14th SDR. and the second time in a few years I've bought this one. As an FCC licensed technician, I have a little knowledge (over 30 years) of radio. Of course there are cheaper ones with flimsy MCX connectors, plastic cases (ABS) and tiny magnetic antennas, which may or may not have working internal connections. READ the reviews, it's not just the people who are ignorant, they are far from optimally designed and built. And they range from $15 to $22 with a cheap MCX antennaโ€ฆ
