02 gmc envoy are perfect for air to spring conversions. I've seen some people say they are too tight to wear and need to be installed in the shop. I had no problems and didn't need a spring compression tool, just a pry bar to pry it off the detent hub that holds it. Put it on stands, put a jack under the rear axle, remove the wheel and stand, slowly lower the rear axle on each side and you have room to remove the old ones and install the new ones. When in doubt, rent or buy a coil spring compression tool, but honestly a long flathead screwdriver or preferably a pry bar is all you need (unless you're using spring isolators, in which case you may need spring compressors). 20 minutes to remove the air springs (would have been quicker but one air spring got stuck, ended up hitting the top a couple of times with a hammer and loosened.) Install the coil springs and reassemble. $24 used as new springs, amazon stock deal sounded way better than $100 each, air springs just wear out again waiting for the compressor to fail and need $350 for a remanufactured spring on ebay or more than $500 for one issue new ones. one. When switching from air to spring travel, disconnect and close the leveling sensors so they're out of the way and you don't have a warning light on your dash. The compressor still works, there are no signaling devices, I haven't installed spring isolators yet but I will soon, I just haven't had the time. The handling is almost the same, a little stiffer on the gravel track but hardly noticeable, on the pavement you don't notice the difference at all.
