ACDelco 45H2133 Professional Rear Spring Review

I replaced a broken set of air springs on my old Buick. Replacing the air pump, controller and bags was quite expensive compared to these springs which are a direct replacement. They were easy to install (using a spring compressor and jack stands). Do not attempt to repair or replace the electronically controlled air suspension! It's a lot cheaper and it drives exactly the same.

I installed an air spring conversion kit a few years ago. Included was a set of springs that appeared to be compatible with the messenger. As you can see, they're about two inches shorter than GM's suggestion. This resulted in me blowing 3 rear gear seals before realizing the gear angle was wrong due to the shorter spring. Do yourself a favor and buy them and save yourself the headache of figuring out why you're not buying cheap.

AC Delco parts are what you need. The price is a bit higher than the fakes and they went in easily. I had to get spring compressors from Autozone but other than that they're just what you need. I bought top spring insulators, Mooer?. Incidentally, I had trouble getting old air springs out, a common problem. What has worked great for me is the chisel, which is pretty sharp. and a hammer. 02 gmc envoy are perfect for air to spring conversions. I've seen some people say they are too tight to wear and need to be installed in the shop. I had no problems and didn't need a spring compression tool, just a pry bar to pry it off the detent hub that holds it. Put it on stands, put a jack under the rear axle, remove the wheel and stand, slowly lower the rear axle on each side and you have room to remove the old ones and install the new ones.
