Review on Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 10-Inch High-Carbon Serrated Bread Knife by Julie Terrones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My old one is almost flat from top to bottom and much thinner.

I bought this to replace a cheaper one that I thought I had lost but found it lost after placing my order so I could have the can compare both. The Chicago Cutlery knife is heavier and almost twice as expensive as the old one. The higher weight is due to the shape of the knife. It is noticeably wider at the top and tapers sharply further down towards the cutting edge. My old one is almost flat from top to bottom and is much thinner and lighter. The difference in design is noticeable in the way it works. The Chicago Culture knife can cut very thin slices, much better than my old one. I believe the reason for this is that the thicker tip of the Chicago cutlery spreads the bread out so that the cutting edge can reach the bread being sliced without the sliced pieces grabbing the top of the knife and slowing it down. This shows that the designers of the Chicago Cutlery Knife know exactly what is important to create the best tool. The extra metal, improved design, and beautiful walnut handle make the Chicago knife a much better price than the knife I've bought before. I bought it thinking all bread knives are the same. Now I know better. Finally, the Chicago Culture knife is also much longer, allowing me to cut larger loaves of bread.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
