Works fine but there are problems. Instructions included

After installing this kit on my 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 I can say it works and fits. Maybe previous versions didn't have MAF, but mine did. I can't stress enough cleaning the intake manifold with brake cleaner and rags prior to installation. A small amount of metal was saved in the machining, THIS WILL DESTROY YOUR ENGINE IF NOT CLEANED! That was my only complaint and the reason for the loss of stars. There weren't any instructions so I'll give a quick overview of the installation.1. Open the hood and remove the engine cover (disconnect the battery if desired, I didn't do this but just to be sure) 2. Remove the factory intake by loosening the worm gear clamps on the throttle body and intake box. Disable the MAF by moving the gray clip and pressing on the clip. Also disconnect the PCV hose from the intake and the hard PCV line at the passenger valve cover.3. Remove the airbox by pulling straight up and out of the rubber bushings.4. Remove the 4 10mm screws securing the airbox mounting plate. Save 2 x 10mm screws for cover installation.5. Remove and retain the top 13mm screw from the passenger side radiator.6. Install the heat shield using the hardware provided (black hexes, washers and locknuts)7. Place the cover in place of the old airbox. I had to adjust the top bracket and use a 13mm screw to attach it to the radiator bracket. Press lightly to align the 2 holes in the fairing with the old air box mounting plate brackets. After all the screws are inserted by hand, tighten them first. Check the hood clearance here. Mine made 2 small marks on the hood liner but completely erased.8. CLEAN INDUCTION PIPE WITH CLEAN BRAKES. Be careful not to get metal shavings into the tube.9. Insert the adapter into the filter and attach the worm drive clamp. Place the filter in the heat shield area and insert the open end through the hole in the heat shield.10. Place the T-clamps on the rubber socket studs. Align the screws on the terminals so they are easily accessible. It will be 8mm.11. Install a straight, flexible hose onto the filter tube, push onto the heat shield and secure. (DO NOT over tighten these clamps, they work but are cheap and will break if you squeeze them too hard.) 12. Using a Torx T20 bit, remove the mass air flow sensor from the old intake box and attach it to the new pipe. Use the included hardware here, the factory screws were self-tapping to enter the plastic airbox and the pipe has machined threads. There is a plastic venturi insert at the end of the tube next to the MAF. THIS IS REQUIRED FOR THE MAF TO READ PROPERLY. 13. Place the shoe at a 90 degree angle on the short side tube (the tube has a 45 degree bend). There are 2 sides of the boot, short side and long side. The short side goes to the throttle body.14. Place the inlet tube in a straight flexible sleeve and make sure it is installed properly. The inlet pipe must be above the top lines of the radiator and vapor line, but below the line of the radiator expansion tank. Slide 90 onto the throttle body. Adjust the connectors to ensure everything is seated and secure.15. Use the hose provided to connect the PCV fittings. No clamps are required but they fit snugly and the PVC is the source of the vacuum. You can add your own if it helps you sleep at night.16. Reconnect MAF.17. Add a hood gasket to the top of the heat shield.18. Start the engine, check the CEL and cancel the beer.
