I assume the filter works fine but the welded nut on the bottom isn't very high and the edges are too rounded so the nut isn't that useful is how it could be because the socket wrench slips off easily. It doesn't help that the nut is covered in a very smooth gloss paint. This works well when you have a straight shot with a wrench, but is tricky when you need to use a swivel on a wrench extension.
