Review on AISIN TKF-004 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Upgraded Water Pump by Josh Culotta

This kit is all high quality Japanese parts, except for the timing belt which is a Mitsubishi product. I've been a long time fan of Gates as they have always offered great quality belts but can no longer recommend them due to the declining quality of the timing kits they offer. Chinese bearings can be of high quality, but. Other Thoughts: This kit doesn't include the "game knife" found in Gates kits (it's only used on MT vehicles) so you'll need to measure the clearance yourself. I used an Allen key as a feeler gauge. The instructions DO NOT mention that you must hold back the cams on the left side of the engine or there is a risk of bent valves. In fact, the engine WILL flex them when the belt is removed. That seems like a pretty big oversight to me. Get the right instructions before committing to it.
