I love the fact that Dorman created an aftermarket.

I love that Dorman makes the door lock after sale but there are a few things to know before you buy. Installation is very easy once you learn how to remove and replace the locks (kudos to YouTube). You will not receive a cable with this purchase, so you will need to use the cable that is currently on your door lock. Again, this is a simple process. All other necessary parts are included and the locks are just as tight as other locks. Disadvantages: 1. With this lock, the door closes much rougher. You have to try harder to get a full lock, or it only partially locks and you have to press it again. The closing sound is different and louder. What worries me is that it's different, but it's not loud in a really problematic way. 2. The feeling of opening the door is also a bit more difficult. It really comes down to the fact that the overall smoothness of the locking mechanism is not as good as OEM door locks.3. The lock is a little louder than other locks when locking and unlocking. Another user complained about a loud whistle. I would just describe it as a slightly louder noise. Again, only you will notice. Although this lock is different from the original and doesn't look as slick, time will really tell if it will hold up better than the OEM locks. This is my third pair and this is the first non-original lock I've tried. I installed this OEM lock on another door to see which one lasted longer. I will update over time. It's been a few weeks and the locks are working as they should. 2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT Crew Cab (And Really Cool) Update April 29, 2018: A little over a year later, this lock died accidentally. Stops working and makes a strange noise when opening the door. My truck is used very little and I doubt this lock will last even a year with customers who use their vehicles more regularly than I do. Not recommended.
