Obviously my fault.
I SUGGEST there were two, but upon closer inspection it clearly shows and describes the shelf, not the shelves. The shelf is fine and had I read the list in full I wouldn't have bought one for $12 but since I had one and needed two I bought another (tried to get 4). The shelf is thick, has convenient cable cutouts and mounting screws included in the kit. The shelf also has a foam base to hold whatever items you keep on it (two Bose desktop speakers in my case). Since this is my fault, I will leave both and learn my lesson.
