Use this for my 35 lb dog. It wasn't possible to screw the stake all the way into the ground, so I have to periodically go out and tighten it all the way down. I've only tried it in the mud. The cord started to curl after a few weeks and won't stay straight unless it's taut (never traveled with it and never wrapped it so I don't know why it's curling like that after only using it all the time laid out in the garden). After 2 months, rust appeared on the metal parts of the base and the cable. i love red
