Review on MikroTik Dual-Concurrent Access Point: hAP ac Lite RB952Ui-5ac2nD-US by Shelly Day

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Dismal Wi-Fi performance

Edit: After some fiddling around, I found that the problem was my own stupidity and a bit of ignorance. It turns out that the program I was using to determine which channels nearby Wi-Fis were on was actually taxing my laptop's network card. We close the program and the bandwidth jumps to 85 Mbit/s. I've observed a similar phenomenon with an uplink router where I'm getting >250 Mbps throughput. Program for listening to wireless channels, 20 Mbit / s, turn it off and get almost 300 Mbit / s. Rating updated from 1 star to 3 stars. Will update again after use (probably up to 5 stars now that I've gotten rid of my stupidity) - Revocable review - I saw a lot of positive reviews and was excited to dig into the configuration options. As expected from the reviews, it was highly customizable. It works out of the box, so I'm not sure what the reviewers are referring to in terms of difficulty setting it up the first time. I couldn't get more than 20Mbps over Wi-Fi. The speed fluctuated around 13-17 Mbps in the state of delivery. After a few tweaks, I bumped the speed up to 22 Mbps (it briefly jumped to 31 Mbps in this speed test), but it's mostly hovering around 10 Mbps or less now. Most of the changes I made were turning off the 2.4GHz band, changing the channel from Auto to other frequencies, and setting the band to AC just to reduce overhead. also update the firmware and routerOS. The Ethernet port can hit 100Mbps as expected, but the WiFi is just depressing. And out of the box before I have a chance to really mess things up. . I'll probably play around with it for a day or two before giving it up entirely.
