I was glad to get one of these after having a cheap Audio Technica for a few years and this turntable makes me miserable. Why? This belt design is completely absurd to me. I've seen other turntables with a wider rubber band going around a spindle mounted on the outside of the platter like they did on this deck, but instead of being flat and wide the band is tubular (for lack of a better one Possibility). To put it bluntly.) You actually have to move the belt between tiers of this stupid spindle design to change speeds between 33rd and 45th. The pulley doesn't have a groove to hold the belt or keep it level so it's very easy to fall off right away which is my whole problem. While they're very responsive, their customer service says the strap needs to be loosened up a bit by design. Getting the cymbal holding strap out of the box is tricky, but it falls off very easily and causes a lot of stress every time you think you're going to put on a record. They immediately sent me a replacement because one of the boxes was so loose that it couldn't stay on the plate at all. Basically, the outer spindle and flat belt design used by Fluance makes a lot more sense. Despite the great looks and solid build quality, I strongly recommend avoiding this deck. I tried so hard to like it but her belt design here is just too ridiculous.
