Review on Effortlessly Plant With Jayzod'S Black Garden Auger Drill Bits by Tim Jolivette

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for getting bulbs in hard clay soil

This Jayzod bit is the same hole size as my last one but a lot heavier duty shaft and flutes and it’s less money. It does a good job and saves a lot of time. I bought over 400 bulbs to plant this winter for Spring blooming and this saved the day. I tried to dig with a spade and quickly realized it wasn’t gonna happen. We have 25 acres that I’m covering with bulbs, so I’m digging in everything from red dense clay to hillsides and a mountain with lots of soft rock formations and this can get the job done. You will have to dig out the dirt that falls back in the hole, much less so then my old one, but it’s loose and easy to remove. You will also need a few batteries to rotate if you are using a cordless drill, this runs the batteries down quickly. There were many places I couldn’t get this through that were solid rock higher up on the mountain. If it won’t get through, don’t force it, you will burn up your drill. This is a big screw to turn, so it takes a lot of motor, my husband pushed way too hard and smoked a drill, so go slow and don’t push it too hard. I got everything planted for Spring, so I’m happy. I’ll be planting my Fall bulbs with this in the summer. Way worth the 25.00 and much nicer then others on the market this size. Yes, get it!

Pros
  • This auger is a perfect for soils that are not related to clay or glacial till.
Cons
  • Product does not function effectively on a standard electric drill. It just didn’t get the job done.

You never realize that you have needed an auger bit until you buy once and use it. Auger bits are great for digging holes for posts, planting bulbs, aerating ….anything. This thing is solid and should hold up for a long time. If you use this with an impact drill you can really get the job done. Definitely a gardening tool worth having.
