Review on Effortlessly Remove Nails With The Crescent NP11 Nail Puller Pliers In Red And Black by Bryan Sperling

Works amazingly well

I bought this tool specifically for pulling nails from pallets. If you've ever tried to remove those spiral nails from a pallet, you know how troublesome the process can be. My previous methods involved either a large crowbar of a pair of locking pliers and a small steel plate. The crowbar would usually rip the heads off the nails, and the locking pliers were time consuming to use. After opening the package, I was a bit skeptical about the puller since the jaws didn't appear as aggressive looking as those on locking pliers. But I gave it a try anyhow and was quite surprised. The spiral nails pulled out very easily from both softwood and hardwood pallets, and it didn't seem to matter if the nails were rusty or not. Even those with the heads missing pulled out with very little difficulty. The head of the nail (or end of the shank, if the head is missing) needs to protrude about 1/4" above the surface of the wood for the puller to get a good grip. Once you have a hold of the nail, it's a simple matter to just cam the nail right out. I haven't tried it on screws but imagine it would make quite a mess of the wood when the screw is ripped out.

Pros
  • ‎Rubber
Cons
  • May not be useful for those who do not have a steady hand
