Review on Enhanced Malco TNP2R Retaining Trim Punch by Russell Rabbach

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great idea BUT! for hole punch

This is a great idea and it works, but it will ruin (even dent) your suffit as the reveal is V-shaped and smaller than the outside of this tool. This was the only measurement they didn't list in the description. I understand they need to make it stronger, but it would be possible to reduce the OD to fit the canal and it would still hold since you're not driving an 8p nail in, just alum trim nails. They have different ones but I liked the nail holder idea. As others have said, it broke on the first day of use. I continued to use this tool to finish my underside as I was missing part of my left thumb and this item helped me launch and guide the Nial straight. I'm an engineer by trade and if they made the wall thinner or narrower at the very end it would be perfect. I didn't find any other alternative so I gave them this one and saved and used it. I will be turning mine on a metal lathe before using it on my remaining soffit. I wish I had done it sooner but I rushed to finish the project. I would recommend him or any of their others. Forget the clamp holder. I used a rubber band to hold it for a while but it eventually broke which is a shame as it was very comfortable.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Fits
