Wash on gentle cycle, lukewarm or cool, then tumble dry low. Once you put it back in and smooth it out (which takes a minute or less) it's like new! Also we have two naughty clawed cats that will walk across it when playing chase and will hang on to spy or eavesdrop on us but due to the strong tight weave/material/finish there is no traction. ) and does not attract pet hair! We didn't need a mat as it is "fixed" to the front door sill, but if you use it indoors where it isn't it will slip so you need a mat. True White (not off-white like some others) and True Black (not jet black). Highly recommended!
