I had to replace the fan on my HP Lubin i7 1151. Since I switched to a new RGB case, I chose this cooler with fan. Unfortunately, the mini controller of this CPU cooler does not have a passive RGB mode (sync with external controller - NO). It uses a 4-pin RGB connector instead of a 3-pin RGB connector, so it also doesn't work when connected directly to my RGB controller. (I can connect it to a 3 pin connector but then it doesn't work). It works in multiple colors and modes when connected to its own mini controller. You must use the included backplate. It uses very short screw points that don't even protrude beyond the thickness of the motherboard, and if you don't use them you might not be able to touch the processor when the screws are fully tightened. This happened to me and my computer shut down due to thermal overload at 100 degrees Celsius. It only took a few seconds, even before Windows loaded, to shut down. After removing the cooler, I saw that the thermal paste was not touched. I had to remove the backplate with a razor blade and remove the slime with acetone soaked cotton swabs and a combination of razor blades. (The backplates are attached with double sided tape and it sticks very well) The job is time consuming and be careful not to cut the motherboard. The fan cannot be replaced separately here. Knowing this now I would just replace the fan and be done with it. With RGB enabled, this fan wobbles noticeably, or maybe it's just a sticker off-center on the fan hub, but I find that annoying, so I think I'll use it without RGB. None of my other 4 RGB fans have this kind of visible wobble. It's installed with the back panel attached to my motherboard and it works, the core temp is around 30 degrees C so obviously I'm not sending it back at the moment.
