I've had it for 6 months now and use it every day, multiple times a day. There is no scale or rust inside the jug, but there is rust on the heating element (probably from getting wet when I fill the jug). As other reviewers have pointed out, it has a narrow opening so you have to be careful when filling it. I can hear it start to boil, which allows me to stop the cooking process if I want to use it for something that doesn't need that hot water. The only problem with the design for me is that the open and power buttons seem mixed up since I always press the power button to open the lid. I love the blue light that lets me know it's still simmering and that I can put the pot on the counter without worrying about burning anything.
