I had to cut a hole in the side of my front loading washer to access the drain filter (only the other way takes an hour and requires removing the washer body). This access panel allows me to get there to clean the drain filter of 10# dog hair a week without having to take half the washing machine apart. The lid is well made and pretty sturdy, I just cut out a square hole and glued it in with liquid nails. Now all I have to do is pull the washing machine one foot forward and use the butter knife to open the door! I have a duplex with lots of random holes in the walls to access plumbing fixtures. I will be buying more of these brands so my duplex looks a lot better to my renters.
