Great camera for simple needs

I have 7 Wansview cameras that I have bought in the last 5 years or so. The quality of these cameras has always been excellent. Some people reject Wansview cameras, but come on, these cameras are very affordable. None of my Wansview cameras have ever broken and mine are all still in daily use. For this reason, I see them as expensive purchases. This new Q6 camera is the easiest Wansview camera to set up. The company is clearly trying to simplify the installation of rather complex equipment. I think most people with average smartphone skills will get through this without much frustration. Once installed and running, video quality is excellent and camera movement is easy to control through almost 360 degrees. There's two-way audio, although the volume coming from the camera is relatively low even when the volume is cranked up. The SD card slot is very hard to find, but it's there. Look under the eye opening of the lens. (If the camera is facing down, it's closed.) Again, given the price, this is a great camera. But for some people, there may be some negatives. (1) I couldn't get the app to work without telling Wansview my location. There's no reason to ask for my physical location - not the location of the camera mind you, but MY location from my smartphone! My other Wansview cameras didn't require this and I don't understand why a company in China would need to know where I am physically located every time I check my camera. (2) You need to download a new application for this camera to work. This means I now need two apps for my Wansview cameras. If you're considering adding cameras throughout your home, make sure you understand that you may need more than one camera app for your cameras. (3) This camera requires the purchase of Wansview Cloud. $7 per month or $70 per year. The first 30 days are free. (4) This camera cannot be used with Blue Iris or third party camera software. For most people this won't be a problem but for me it's because I prefer to use third party software and 5 of my previously purchased Wansview cameras which cost about the same with Blue Iris. Overall, this is a really high-quality camera with many positive aspects. As a simple camera to quickly monitor your kids or pets, it's great. Just make sure you are aware of the cons before you buy.
