Review on GMRCK25 Suspension Enhancement System by Timbren by Joe Lara

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product but not a replacement for worn out springs

Based on other timbral spring reviews I was led to believe that I could fit these timbral springs instead of replacing my worn rear leaf springs in my 1966 Chevrolet K1500 substitute. I made a mistake, but that doesn't make it bad. I easily installed the rubber springs in less than an hour and tested them for several days and found them to be very resilient. I called Timbren and they told me to remove the 1" washer that came with the springs, which I did in about 20 minutes. This eliminated 50% of the rebound. Since my leaf springs are old and worn my truck is still on timbre rubber springs, not the 1/2 inch gap the timbre manufacturer says should be there. I now realize that my leaf springs need to be replaced. I recently hooked up my camper and drove it 2 hours each way and my truck ran much better with the camper's weight and the clutter in the back as I drove down the freeway. In the end these products turn out to work as intended, but for me they would work better if my leaf spring was strong enough to prevent the truck from running on timbre springs all the time. So they are really designed to carry/haul heavier loads. No substitute for bad leaf springs. Unless, of course, you don't mind living in a bouncy car, which I might end up doing.
