Review on 🎧 ECS WordSlinger USB Transcription Headset by Ryan Gilliam

Having worked as a medical transcriptionist for quality control for many, many years, I have researched this product ad nauseam. Here are the factors I consider when choosing hardware that's critical to my ability to create accurate decrypted files, and how this particular headset fits the bill. I really wanted to love them but after only 4 hours of use they come back. Very disappointing to say the least. Comfort: Every headset I use stays in my ears for at least 8 hours a day or more. When they arrived I was very excited to try them out. The headpiece has a shock absorbing strip over hard plastic. Definitely a plus, but unless you're wearing them directly on your head, that's a moot point. The earbuds were multidirectional and felt like they would move to any angle or direction because we know everyone's ears are different. Inside the earphone was a thick piece of velvety material. A good idea in theory, but after a while it started putting too much pressure on my ears and they started to hurt a lot. I tried adjusting, reconfiguring and moving this and that to get some relief but to no avail. A few minutes later they started hurting again. The internal speaker is covered in a thin fabric, a good idea in theory too, but I can see that it easily becomes a barrier with prolonged use. In theory, the entire design looked perfect, and it was like they'd considered all angles. But for some reason that's not enough. Noise Cancellation/Squelch: Nothing to say except that it's very bad, and if you use them professionally and every word counts, unless you live in a soundproof world, they don't. will be very useful for blocking out distractions. Privacy: Every sound you hear is also heard by everyone around you. A major shortcoming, especially when it comes to patient privacy or in general. Sound quality: Again, every word counts and the sound quality was exceptional. I particularly liked the volume control. They definitely focus on spoken language and singing. They're good for music, but music isn't really the purpose of this headset. I liked the length of the USB cable, but the volume control was a little cumbersome. So I'll keep looking. If you're not going to be using them for a long time and you don't mind the noise cancellation and everyone can hear what you're hearing and you don't mind your ears pounding with pain then I think they would be a good buy but for most transcriptionists, appreciate the qualities this font lacks, I'd say this isn't good.
