Good idea but poor implementation. They consist of two parts: a rubber guide that fits into the hood's channel and can stay in place while the hood is being retracted. The second part is a flexible piece of plastic with a metal S hook on one end to hold the string of lights. Since the S-hook is metal, be sure to remove it when folding the canopy to avoid damage. That's the problem. To connect the two pieces you really need to slide the non-S end through the rubber piece in the cap channel. This is difficult when you have both pieces in hand and almost impossible when you are on a ladder and the rubber piece is in the canopy channel. Maybe we'll buy bigger S-hooks and use rubber channels without the other plastic part. We can then easily remove the S hooks. I suppose if you don't mind rolling up the canopy with metal S hooks you can leave the two pieces assembled and simply remove the string of lights to tuck the canopy away. Then they would work just fine. But we don't want to risk a piece of metal puncturing the new awning.
