Review on πŸ”§ CycloSpirit Derailleur Hanger Alignment Gauge for Perfect Bike Maintenance by Steve Yang

Works just as well as ANY OTHER shifting tool!

Yes, that's right. I brought this to the shop where I work and tested it on the Park model we have. The overall length corresponds to the overall appearance. The Park model is designed so that its square bar (which has the same dimensions as the Cyclospirit) is oriented at a 45 degree angle to that of the Cyclospirit. The Cyclospirit is designed to be dragged on a flat surface - technically you were dragging on the edge of the park, but in reality you were dragging on the two flat sides. Park has a matte finish than Cyclospirit. What is more convenient to use? I didn't really notice it to be honest, so I'd say it was a flush. I've tried them on 4 different bikes, each tool being used on a bike shop level bike and a full size shop bike. The adjustment mechanism works the same in either case, although the Park was a little easier to slide over the handlebars. (Remember this tool has been in use for at least a few years). Cyclospirit has a slightly narrower weld seam. What you really want to know is how they worked, since the feel is similar enough that one doesn't overshadow the other. Both screwed into the hanger hole with no problems - I couldn't tell any difference. There was no play on either - you can distract both by gently pressing on the end of the tool - perhaps another reviewer spoke about this. It takes a little force to actually bend the temple. No matter how bent the hanger is, using the tool and repeating it as necessary will quickly return it to its original position. It never took more than 8 adjustments, although I always checked 4 more times to make sure it was straight. So what's better? Since they work equally well, I have to give credit to Cyclospirit. I really like the Park instruments and have a lot of them and I admit I prefer the feel of the Park but I've been using one of these for a long time. But because they work the same way, both curved hangers quickly straighten and the feel is similar enough that you wouldn't be able to tell them apart unless you knew one was Cyclospirit and the other Park. (Except now you know the stripe orientation is different so you can tell). I see no reason to spend $22 more when I can get the same results from a well made Cyclospirit. If you've ever tried to fix a bent hanger and nearly lost your mind, you really need one of these. The hassle saved by using this tool justifies its price.
