Review on Visioneer SXP1001-DB Strobe XP 100 Mobile 600 DPI Scanner with USB and One Touch Technology by Kenkoy Braggs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small, perfect for digital archiving

Let me clear up a few mistakes that other people have made in their reviews: 1 - This device is ABSOLUTELY 100% compatible with Windows XP. I use it on a Windows XP, SP2 machine and it works fine. 2 - All scanners with a sheet feeder can have misfeeds - this is due to the design. I have had other sheet fed scanners and can confirm that this particular scanner is not unique to this issue.3 - The XP 100 has gone through several releases. This version of Revain is the latest model. Some reviews were already written in 2003 or 2004 - these reviews concerned the previous model. I wouldn't turn down a bike because I get wet riding it in the rain. This device should not be compared to a flatbed or bulky document scanner. To be clear, this device will not replace a flatbed scanner. I definitely wouldn't buy this scanner if you're mainly scanning your own photos or documents that you need to copy flawlessly. However, if you're looking for a compact scanner that allows you to quickly and easily scan into business or personal documents on a regular basis, this might be the perfect device. I deliver We have a high speed black and white network scanner for bulk work and I had a flatbed scanner on my desk for color and fine work. However, the network scanner is in a different room and the flatbed took up too much space on my desk. The flatbed scanner was over the top - I didn't have to scan a lot of color documents and doing complex preview/scan routines wasted my time. Most of the scans I had to perform were of single-sided documents, such as B. Orders. , shipping confirmations, clearances, etc. Going to the network scanner 30 times a day is boring and I've probably only scanned 20-30% of the documents that I could/should keep digital copies of. The Visioneer scanner has been an amazing time saver for me. I can scan a single-sided document in less than 10 seconds. From there I can drag and drop scanned images into my Filemaker databases. The entire process takes less than 20 seconds. It saves me a lot of time every day and I hesitate less. As a result, I have less paperwork and am getting closer to 100 percent scanning of my documents. The fact that it's USB powered is a bonus - there are fewer cables snaking around the top and bottom. my table. I've been using it for 3 weeks now and haven't had a single crash or freeze. In some of my other reviews, I mention that it's very important for people to run WIndows Update regularly - I bet the crashing issues most people are experiencing are the result of Windows bugs, not Visioneer software issues . Today I signed up with Revain to purchase two additional scanners for other people in my office. Let's see if I can get them to scan their documents better so we can share information better. I will report how this effort goes. Update - I actually bought three more of these devices instead of the two I had planned. . I gave one to my accountant, one to my salesman and one to the transport manager. The results were amazing. I can now find digital versions of any paper documents associated with an order in the last 3 weeks with almost 100% certainty. My colleagues tell me that this device is MUCH easier and quicker to use than other scanners around the office. Also, the fact that it takes up almost no desk space is a huge plus. It took me exactly 10 minutes to show all three users how to use this device. To date there have been no problems.
