I chose these because I always drop things and thought that if the needles were connected the number of falls would decrease. I'm so new to knitting. didn't know it was "in circles" for making large throws/quilts and even socks. Won Won! It would be nice if these sets of different accessories included a list with names and descriptions of what they are. The needles themselves are made of wood with plastic connecting cords. The wood does not have a smooth surface, but it has been explained that this helps the yarn stay on the needle. There have been a couple of instances where the yarn really got stuck and almost got stuck, but I'm slow enough not to damage the yarn. I'm not a fan of aluminum or other metal items, that's another reason I chose them. If there are plastic needles, I would buy them. All arrows are clearly marked, and the marks that are there will eventually disappear - maybe I'll make a legend that matches the color of the string to the size of the needle. The whole set comes in a cute white matte zippered pencil case. Enough space for everything and very portable. For a beginner who is unsure about taking up knitting, this is a great buy for the price (less than $10 at the time of purchase). You'll get everything you need without breaking the bank if you decide knitting isn't for you. But I've had so much fun and been training since they arrived. Partly because of the colorful plastic cords. Based on the ratings and stars, I also recommend buying from this seller.
