Calm Collared

My 2 year old rescue dog who lived on the streets for a while. He still doesn't quite understand what "home" is. At first he liked to run out the front door and just take off, and he's fast. We looked at some trackers. I couldn't decide between this and Fi so I bought both and tried them out for a couple of weeks. I preferred the FI collar design and that it wasn't bulky. They were both very similar, but what made me stick with Tractive was their app. It's just easier for me to use. The other annoys me. Durability - My dog has taken his tracker off a few times as he likes to rub his whole body on my couch and a few times the rubber part has come loose. We have since collared him and he has never come off. Nothing bad. Battery life is way better than some others we've reviewed. I can't charge one of these things every day. I feel lucky just thinking about charging my Fitbit! I've had about 3.5 weeks and just realized the battery life is low and needs a charge. And that's after playing the Lost Dog mode a few times, turning the lights on and off, etc. So the battery life is perfect. When your dog is at home, the battery will not be drained as much. I love the activity feature and the local leaderboard. It shows all the native dogs in the area and their activity. To date, Tank has climbed from 120th place to 16th place. He is a very active dog. Just a fun little thing to look at. He can also have friends in the app. It is simply beautiful. Once we got the hang of it, we added an app to all phones so we can quickly find it if it's lost. My husband is not a techie at all but he enjoys playing with this app. Compared to others, the monthly fee is not that high. I paid less than $100 for an annual plan. I think that's totally fair. A few things to note, you may get false notifications here and there. I've gotten one so far but I could tell it was wrong due to the weird path it showed. I also have a camera outside my house and there was no sign of my dog walking around. He was safe in the yard. One way to avoid this is to increase the size of the virtual fence, but unfortunately I don't live in a village, I live in a small urban area. Overall we are very happy with it so far. I can see exactly where he has been when my son or husband takes him for a walk. I can see when someone is taking him to the dog park etc. I had to take him because there are lost dog tags for other dogs all over the area and I really don't want to lose my dog. It's also chipped, but you'll have to wait for someone else to find it and take it somewhere. I wanted more control over my dog's search. Good product. Hope this helps you decide!
