Don't rely on the water resistance. I suspect this is the problem.
Worked indoors on his boat for 2 years and retired. Power is acknowledged but does not turn on. Disappointing! It's out of warranty but I've only used it a couple of times because it's installed on my boat. The boat is stored in a heated garage during the winter.
