Good starter set, but...

Overall this is a good starter set for those just starting out with blade sharpening. That being said, here are the problems I ran into. Don't rely on numbers. on stones, at least not stone 3000/8000. It's closer to 1000/3000-5000. Therefore this is a good set for beginners as there is a difference in all four grits. This helps in teaching and practicing without spending more than $40 per stone. The bamboo coaster is poorly constructed, it doesn't fall apart easily, but you can tell it won't last long. Also, it was assembled and then painted instead of machining individual parts before assembly. Doesn't sound like much, but it means you can't submerge your stone stand while sharpening to keep your stone moist, rather than manually adding water a million times or washing your stone under the tap every minute. It's a spider's nest in there, no one was home, but you should know about it anyway. The skin needs some attention, mine looks like it has spent some time in the salt marshes. He banged everywhere. Recently I've searched the net for a long time, I couldn't find "paper carrot" anywhere, so I couldn't test my cutting edge against the manufacturer's specifications.
