I think that's a reasonable monitor price for the quality and size. I can't comment on the reliability since I've been using it for less than a month, but I really like it. The picture quality is excellent and the size is perfect. This monitor has some disadvantages, namely > Brightness settings: I think the brightness range on this monitor is fine. My laptop goes from completely dark to very bright. This varies from very bright to slightly dark > Speakers: They aren't as bad as other reviews make them out to be. They're not loud, but they're not quiet either. If volume isn't that important to you, then the built-in speakers are a really nice feature. But if you really need loud, high quality audio output, you will be very disappointed. One more note: I've read some reviews complaining about "ghosting" when text (black text on a white background) leaves a "trail" on the screen. . I haven't experienced any of that (this is the third of these monitors I'm buying; the other two were designed for a dual monitor setup on a desktop I built and had no ghosting either). I'm not sure if it's only present in some or if it's an age phenomenon, but I haven't seen it. In general, this monitor deserves its rating. I bought two for a dual monitor set up over VGA on Windows 8 and it looks great. I'm currently using it on my Ubuntu 13.04 laptop via HDMI and it works fantastic too.
