The concept is very good. performance is not that great. GOOD: When used with the Evernew Soft Bottle (1L or 2L), this concept allows the Soft Bottle to stand upright in a backpack or external mesh pocket and drink water from the drinking tube's bite valve. . Key to this is a vent check valve in a snug-fitting cap and a "straw" that extends to the bottom of the soft bottle. Now Evernew's soft bottle and this standard cap fits snugly and closes tightly, unlike some even big brands, so the packaging within the box is appropriate, especially 'right side up'. This is in contrast to the worryingly poor fit/tightening of standard caps on other hydration chambers that are used upside down for gravity flow of water. BAD (improvement issues): The hoses used are too soft, causing them to twist at bends or not stretch. good in a soft bottle (straw separation). There should be extra hose lengths to allow the use of both short and long straws for BOTH 1 liter and 2 liter bottles (small day pack versus trekking pack). The end of the drinking tube should have a female connector and the bite valve should have a female connector so that a "release valve adapter" can be easily swapped out or used. Finally, this kit is way overpriced for what it is. Verdict: Although pricey, it's worth the price for experimentation and adjustment if you'd rather use a hydration tube but a soft bottle in a side pocket to free up backpack space. and can see how much water is left, easier to refill and so on.
