Wrong filter but fits

It's not a real HEPA filter but honestly it's not advertised as one. Unfortunately very little information is published here (strike against seller) so I will share what I found. First, it is the correct size for Model X. Tesla filter that is glued into the replacement case). The filter itself says "BOMA BCK2323 1045566 210618" and "Made in China". This is a MERV 8 class filter. This means it is good at catching fine particles (3-10 microns) such as mold spores, hairspray, dust mites and pet dander. It also has to deal with larger particles such as pollen or house dust. In comparison, Tesla's OEM filter is HEPA, which means it achieves a minimum efficiency of 99.97% at 0.3 microns, allowing it to trap bacteria and smoke. It completely outperforms this filter at a price of a little less than double. In short, this filter just isn't good enough to justify the asking price and installation difficulties. While this saves a few dollars over the cost of the original unit, it doesn't help with the smoke from the California wildfires or eliminate exhaust fumes.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • so far so good
