Review on 🎡 Sangean U3 Digital Tuning Radio: AM/FM Ultra Rugged & Water Resistant - Blue/Black by Gunaraj Varga

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great radio! in radio

This product met all my expectations. I use it as a clock radio and listen to it while getting ready for work. I like the fact that it returns to battery life in the event of a power outage. The difference between mains and battery operation is barely audible, apart from the appearance of the battery indicator on the display when the battery is in operation. In manual mode, the power output is 5W from battery, 6W from AC mains with a THD of 10%. I use it as a boombox on garage projects where it is more than adequate in terms of volume and fidelity. I find the FM sensitivity to be better than other radios I've used with the same settings. It does a great job playing my portable CD player through the AUX connection. The band selector toggles between FM, AM and AU when an AUX input is present and the green AUX LED on the front panel lights up when selected. I found the bass performance to be appropriate for the intended use: louder outdoors or larger rooms. It can be overwhelming at 1-2 feet at max volume, but that's what the volume knob is for. The light works well and will come in handy during our next power outage. The DC output, called the cell phone charger, is actually a small coaxial connector rated at 5V at 500mA: not particularly useful for current generation cell phones. Speaking of DC power, I ended up with a 12V car cable with a coax plug of the right polarity and size that powers the radio perfectly. If you turn off the power on the side of the vehicle or turn off the ignition, the radio will stop playing and the display will show "E” until 12V power is restored or the input connector on the radio is disconnected. The clock and all alarm functions remain intact thanks to the separate AA batteries that power them. All in all a very handy device that deserves its Revain award.
