Review on ๐ŸŽ๏ธ K&N Cold Air Intake Kit: Boost Horsepower & Performance for 2007-2010 DODGE/JEEP (Caliber, Compass, Patriot) - 50-State Legal: Model 57-1552 by David Diaz

Great addition to the Compass 2.4L

Installation: Installation took about 2 hours, I am a competent auto mechanic and have all the tools necessary to get the job done. Overall the installation wasn't incredibly difficult, but as others have said there wasn't much room to work when connecting the CAI to the throttle body. The other tricky part was getting the airflow sensor into the included CAI socket (I lubricated it well and wiggled it around with a rag at the end so as not to hurt my hand, took about five minutes, I heard others do it too heated up.) Also, I think the instructions were missing information on how to use all the mounting nuts, bolts, and washers. It said something along the lines of "attach part A to part B and use the hardware that came with it" and I know the best way to use washers, but it still left me guessing in places. (I docked a half star for the instructions). Performance: I haven't installed it long enough to see the MPG change. However, the acceleration performance of the car is very noticeable. I feel the difference every time I step on the pedal and especially on the first acceleration. It's a lot more punchy. Pros: Obvious increase in performance! Possible increase in MPG. Cons: noise. I know a lot of people have said this but the difference is the noise day and night. After installing this intake, the engine growls loudly when accelerating above 2500 rpm. The stock airbox kept the car fairly quiet, but you'll hear the difference right away. It's not a deal breaker for me because the performance gain is so amazing for such a relatively low price. But I docked half a star because of the increased noise. My guess is that if you put in a new exhaust system the growl might be a bit more than you would expect from the engine/exhaust noise.

Pros
  • 2007 Handy item
Cons
