I like the fact that they are airtight and fit in mason jars of different sizes. This factor makes it so easy for me to condense things in your fridge as things are used/emptied that I can choose what size I want to start with, or from 1/2 gallon to quart to pint to 1/2 and can go up to a pint than required. a lid is transferred at each glass change. This saves a lot of space in the fridge. The lids close well and, even as an adult, you can simply hold them open with your thumb when pouring. Otherwise they will fall down and turn off the electricity when pouring. Although no one else mentioned it in the review, they do have a latch in the open position of the lid. You hear a click. Just pull it back until you hear a click. The lid stays up when pouring and then closes gently with your thumb as you pour. Great for holding a cup in one hand and pouring from a pitcher in the other. The lids screw on and off easily and the handles are surprisingly very strong, making it easy to lift heavy jars when full, even large half-gallon jars. The ergonomically curved handle is probably the reason. The only real complaint is that it doesn't "work" with 8oz (1/2 pint) jelly cans. It fits snugly, but the handle is about an inch too long for the glass to sit flat on the surface.
