The pick and pluck system works well, although not ideal for me. I was only able to remove the depth I wanted for my Smith & Wesson M&P Shield with scissors as I had removed too much deep foam using only my fingers. If you do, don't despair. Just go to a hardware store, buy styrofoam, cut it up and stuff it into your (too deep) hole to make it shallower. After all, it's just foam. The case itself is very durable and waterproof, and has a secure locking mechanism that you can padlock to. The case is very high quality and appears to hold up to some abuse. Consider paying a bit more and getting TSA-approved locks that TSA agents can pick without picking your lock.
