My 1969 el Camino loves them

I was frustrated trying to find a cheap set of H4 lens bodies for my el Camino. My goal was to upgrade the car/truck's electrical system by making the most of the factory wiring harnesses. I have only owned this car since November 2017. This is the original SS 396 which has undergone good/bad modifications and repairs during its lifetime. What made headlight mods a priority was an evening cruise a few months ago, and I realized the factory equivalent sealed bars couldn't illuminate the road enough to safely navigate the surrounding roads. I've noticed that other cars light up everything around us, but ours certainly doesn't. I found a lot of misinformation on the internet. I didn't find much information either. This is probably because if people could find information on how to do such a project at a low cost, they wouldn't need to buy lighting "kits" for their project cars. It's really hard to just find display case bulb combinations and figure out which bulbs plug straight into the car's factory bulb plugs. I did it that way. Hull Blocks H4. It was the best quality for the price I could find. I didn't want halogen bulbs but could have gone that route. I wanted bright headlights! It was easy to find LED bulbs that match the H4 configuration. I added NOVSIGHT H4 (9003/HB2) LED bulbs that fit nicely in the lower (outer) cases. I didn't have to modify the holes in the core mount at all to mount the lamp fan housings. That was the easiest part. The inner lights are bright rays. They have two connectors, single beam light. The GS Power glass body has an H4 bulb socket. H4 bulbs have low beam and high beam, so I needed a single beam LED bulb with H4 fitting. Here is the solution I chose. I chose H7 LED bulbs for their single beam / 2 pin socket. However, this is not optimal. To install the H4 housing I needed an "H4 adapter" to replace the H7 lamp socket. Check the lamp size to make sure it fits the adapter well. I also have 2 H7 bulb adapters to plug into the 2 pin connector on the factory wiring harness. There are several options and some parts may need to be made. Maybe another solution. narrower than the factory (female) socket. It would be possible to solder copper connectors to the outside of the H7 connectors to extend them to fit the factory two pin connector on the wiring harness. I will investigate this solution. Unfortunately, this is further evidence that online retailers are intentionally hiding features like dimensions. Blindly buying parts online leads to DIY. If you don't have experience in manufacturing electrical equipment, don't start now. The fire and destruction of your project and the risk to you or your family is not worth it. Properly selected wire with electrical insulation is required! I suspect that the fan of the NOVSIGHT H7 lamp is similar in size to the H4 lamp. If so, no changes to core support are required here either. I had another lightbulb to try at this point. This headlight upgrade made a huge difference in improving visibility. I ran my bulbs a little lower than the original bulbs to protect other drivers from the brightness of our new headlights. It can be a salvation for them and for us. They really update the look of our el Camino SS 396!
