I was able to put my car into programming mode with no problem but this key fob didn't respond at all. My original still worked but I broke the key ring slot so I needed a replacement. So at this point, I opened both fobs to see what wasn't working. To my surprise, both the battery and the circuit board were defective. I put a "new" battery in my old device and it wasn't working at the time. Just a bad battery I thought. Well then. I put my working battery in the new device and it still didn't respond. I only paid about $6 for this keychain so for now I just popped the battery and circuit board from my old keychain into the new case and that's all I really need. Don't bother with the exchange.
