Worked wonders with a thin set that stuck to my plywood base after removing tile and backing. I had low expectations of how well this would work and I can honestly say I was blown away. I strapped the pointed attachment from my shop vacuum to the base of my angle grinder to try and keep the dusty mess at bay, which was important. Be sure to wear respiratory and eye protection and shake the commercially available vacuum filter frequently (from the outside, of course). Despite the mess, this thing quickly did a good job and my underbody looked almost brand new. Doesn't damage the wood, just leaves it clean and ready for new decking. With it you can remove 25 ft^2 of thin material residue in 2-3 minutes. Truly amazing.
