When I got this lens I was looking for something extremely versatile that I could use on the go so I didn't have to keep switching lenses when I knew it was me war you need a wide range of focal lengths. After more than a year of use it's holding up quite well, although at times it seems to struggle with autofocus more than my other lenses. It seems to perform reasonably well across the range, although like most others it's sharpest in the mid-range. My only major complaint is that there is no vibration cancellation. When I bought it I didn't read carefully enough and didn't realize that the price should have made it clear in hindsight. Without vibration suppression you really can't take full advantage of it on a 250mm handheld, it shakes too much. If you normally shoot on a tripod this probably isn't a problem, but then again I got this lens as a portable lens. It has served me well and was a great lens to explore my needs (it was one of three I bought when I first got my camera) but now that I know I can go through with one Replace Nikon VR telephoto lens when I can. allow it.
