Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ R.W.FLAME 36" Electric Fireplace Insert: Touch Screen, Remote Control, Timer & Colorful Flame Option by Chris Bhatia

Not very realistic but a good alternative to a heat sink fireplace

was the best combination of features/size to fit our space and budget. Only the person who has never seen a wood burning fireplace could mistake this for a real one. It may be more like a gas insert but the lack of depth is a giveaway for us. The existing gas fireplace was a heat sink and this insert makes the place cozier so we are very happy with it. Our existing chimney opening was 35 inches wide and 29 inches high. We went with the 36" option and 4" Lowe's landscape bricks to install get it on top so we don't have a gap. We removed the apparatus that vented the gas under the logs in our old setup and kappa d cut the pipe with a brass fitting to be safe (the valve is closed on the outside of the chimney). The gas tube was about 13 inches from the hole so there was plenty of room to insert at depth. We left small (1 inch or less) gaps on either side of the bricks so we could route the cord to the nearest outlet. I hid it with some kind of decoration. We really liked the look of the brick and it was a lot easier and cheaper than buying or DIY siding to fill the top gap. All we had to do was place the stones where we wanted and place the bet on them. We weren't sure how we would handle the height difference before ordering the fireplace and we're very happy with how this setup worked out. Hope this helps someone else in a similar situation.
