This router will not properly communicate with a Spectrum cable modem if you are upgrading an existing router. There is a problem with the modem's MAC address that is preventing the router from communicating with the modem. I spent about an hour with Netgear tech support. We needed to find the MAC address of the modem so we could correct that address in the router settings. The Nighthawk mobile installer app does not recognize this issue. Spectrum Cable Internet Support is not aware of this incompatibility. After making all these additional setup changes, the router stopped communicating as soon as I rebooted the router when I moved it to its final location in my house. At that point I contacted Netgear again and the second tech support person was unable to offer a solution to my problem. I've searched the internet and found many discussions about this problem with Spectrum Cable's internet. One of the recommended solutions was to use your computer's MAC address instead of the modem. I am not ready to make such a decision. Spectrum Cable and Netgear should address this issue so the customer doesn't have to spend hours trying to troubleshoot a known issue between their devices.
