This is a very plastic/vinyl material and is very thin. It's not a luxury rug, but if you're traveling and need something that's easy to navigate and also easy to transport, then this is perfect. Prayer rugs are meant for praying on something clean, in fact they are not technically needed in a clean courtyard. While you can pray outdoors when you travel, you will find yourself praying outdoors during Covid. This allows you to clean the floor without taking up space in your bag. In addition, the edges are weighted so that the wind does not blow them away so easily. I wish they were weighed down a little because as I went from standing to kneeling on the mat, it compressed a little. All in all a small problem. I definitely recommend this mat. It's not fantasy, but it shouldn't be. it is effective
