I bought this to replace my SB5100 which is no longer supported by Comcast. If you can, it's worth taking the time to just buy a cable modem instead of renting one. I've had no problems with it, and with the self-provisioning software Comcast uses, I didn't even have to call. Buy it used, there's no point in buying it new if you really don't want it. Cable modem technology slowly changes over time so you'll probably be replacing it in 5+ years, which pays off once you stop paying the extra +$12/month for modem rental.
