I'm not sure why the previous reviewer had so many character recognition issues. There may be a defect in the particular device he received. In my case, it did an excellent job of detecting dates on a large number of business cards. Very quick and easy to use. I didn't have the Outlook integration enabled, but I set it up so that the Cardscan contact list is available in Outlook and it worked fine. My only negative has to do with the free online backup they offer: the fine print tells you that they regularly email everyone on your contact list to encourage them to join. Sounds like a great way to lose all your friends, so I didn't.
