Review on πŸ”Œ Seamlessly Connect Your Lifeproof Case with Lifeproof Lifeactiv Quickmount Adapter by Charles Galan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Mostly good, but with some bad and ugly moments in this fundamentally innovative product from LifeProof

If you need an easy-to-use windshield mount for your smartphone and small tablet (e.g. iPad Mini), this might be a good choice. Pros: 1. Windshield sucks more than Superman. Indeed strong.2. It takes a quarter turn to lock the suction on the windshield. Simple.3. Your smartphone or tablet is securely attached to the holder. This is also strong.4. The smartphone unscrews relatively easily, but I believe it's a simple unlocking mechanism that uses rare earth magnets. Disadvantages: 1. The arm of the mount is quite short. If you have a steep windshield, you may have to walk a long way to knock on the phone, causing a security problem.2. In order to attach it securely to the windshield, the suction cup is quite large. If you are using your smartphone's video function as a dash cam, please note that the suction cup will cover a tiny corner of your camera (my experience is with the iPhone 6 plus, which is a large phone).3. Adjusting the position of the hands requires some maneuvering. You must unscrew the handle to attach the bracket to the windshield. Then you have to unscrew the magnet that is connected to the magnet of your phone. It took some time to get it right. Ugly: 1. You need to permanently attach the magnet to your smartphone, tablet or case for it to snap onto the mount. It's only a few millimeters high, but it still looks ugly. I have it in a nice Lifeproof case and I don't like the way it looks. The adhesive is 3M tape which is known to be strong and durable. In general, the good outweighs the bad. If the "ugly" can be ignored, then this is a very innovative system for quickly and securely attaching a smartphone or tablet to a window. I'm really impressed with how easy it is. But again, be aware. Using this system is an all-inclusive commitment as you will need to permanently attach part of the device to your phone or case. And if you make a mistake, you can't erase it. And when you buy a new phone, you can't move this magnet, you have to buy another one, which is quite expensive.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable buy for seniors
